This exhibition depicted the cultural activities of women centering on ‘poems’, mostly of female intellectuals in the Joseon Dynasty, and how knowledge and information became systematized in everyday life.
Joseon Merchants and Sailors was painted by Phillip Franz von Siebold (1776-1866) from Germany after he met and chatted with Joseon merchants and sailors who landed in Japan when they encountered high waves at sea. He thought Joseon merchants were resolute and enterprising.
