The astrolabe is a portable astronomy tool for observing the locations of stars, time, longitude and latitude. It was mainly manufactured in Arabia. This was made by Yu Geum(1741∼1788), who had a profound knowledge of both geometry and astronomy as a Silhak scholar who communicated with the Northern Learning School, including Park Jiwon. The seal Yussigeum is on the left ring on the front and an inscription saying that it was made by Master Yakam Yun(name is unknown) in 1787.
