Yeonam (燕巖) Bak Ji-won (1737-1805) wrote a travel log entitled Journal of Yeolha (熱河日記) after he came back from his 1780 trip to Qing dynasty. It contains detailed introduction of the cultural-technological system and social economy of the Qing dynasty as well as a meticulous record of his impressions of the literati and distinguished people of Qing with whom he came into contact.
